Where The Beard Things Are.

Well, the Dream Theater show is tomorrow…FUCK YEA! I’ll be leaving around 11 am to go to Hotlanta. I want to get in line kind of early since the doors open at 5. Hopefully by the time DT hits the stage, we’ll be front row (if not sooner). I’m also excited about some of the support acts. Bigelf has a total late 60’s/early70’s prog/classic rock vibe and Scale the Summit is an awesome instrumental band. don’t really care either way about Zappa plays Zappa, only because I’m not too familiar with Frank Zappa’s work. Well anyways, Lowes is fucking me over (surprise surprise). They have been cutting hours like a bitch. I have gone from averaging about 33 hours a week to 14! I can’t pay bills on 14 hours a week. And the thing is, one guy in L&G just quit, one is about to leave for the military and one went back to cashiering. And yet, they can’t give me any hours. My main problem is that I have a decent wage over there and I don’t expect to get it anywhere else. So even if I found a job with more hours, I’d more than likely take at least a $1.50 pay cut. Enough of that though. There are a shit ton of tv seasons coming to dvd in the next 2 months. Dexter, The Office, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, 30 Rock, Scrubs, and Flight of the Conchords all come out between August 1 and September 30. I’m currently wanting to get a new guitar but with my new financial situation it will be harder than I thought. MThe one I’m looking at is a little different than what I’m used to. it’s an 8 string guitar! http://www.rondomusic.com/AgileIntrepidStandard8DarkBurst.html The neck alone on this thing is a fucking beast. I think it will be awesome to play though, and I was already planning on getting a 7 string. Now I can go even lower. I just think it will be cool to expand my range of playing and add more bass notes. Depending on how low you tune the top string, you could play guitar and bass lines without having to switch instruments. Anyways, I will not be getting it anytime soon. Ryan has got me hooked on watching House. Even though the plot is quite repetative, I still find myself wanting more. I think I just need something to hold me over until Sunny starts back and House fits. I just watched Major League II the other day. I haven’t seen that movie in probably 8 years. Not as good as the original but still pretty funny. The PG rating is what killed it. I keep forgetting that Pedro Cerrano is now the All State guy (Dennis Haysbert). Well, pizza is here so I must go. Well, this is my first text post in quite some time. I haven’t really had time to write anything lately. Plus, I frequently forget that I have a tumblr. Anyways, let’s see….I still work at Lowe’s (woohoo) out in the garden center. It sucks now because of this fucking heatwave we are experiencing. I recently found out that I am on financial aid suspension, even though this is the first semester I’ve ever tried to use financial aid. It’s due to the fact that I had to withdraw from all classes my first semester because of conflicting work schedules. This caused me to not meet my “hours attempted/hours completed” ratio. So I had to file an appeal to try to convince them to still give me financial aid. For the reason, I talked about my issue with work, but also made up a bullshit story that involved me having to move out of state due to family reasons. The financial aid officer said it sounded like a good appeal and I should hear something by the end of July. I hope I hear back soon because registration starts the 27th. Anyway…pretty excited about the Dream Theater show. We’ve missed them every time they come through here (which is not often at all) so it’s awesome that we finally got tickets. UPDATE. I just got a call from my boss telling me to not come into work today. Sounds awesome right? NO. It’s because they are cutting hours. this wouldn’t have affected me when I was living at home but now that we’ve got our own place, that puts a little stress on me. Hopefully things will pick up soon. I just watched Watchmen for the first time since seeing it in theaters. I wasn’t that impressed. Oh and by the way, WHERE THE FUCK WAS THE 24 EXTRA MINUTES?!? I could tell it was longer because the back cover and the display timer on my dvd player told me so but I couldn’t see a single bit of “extra footage”. I was also excited about watching the Zack Snyder in depth walkthrough of the movie. Come to find out, it’s only on bluray. Hopefully the 5 disc that comes out in December will compensate. I’m watching OK Go perform on mad tv. it’s the best thing that show has done in a while. I recently discovered my new favorite liquor. American Honey, by Wild Turkey. Bourbon with a slight honey flavor. It’s especially amazing mixed with coke. It’s the smoothest whiskey I’ve ever had, and its fairly inexpensive.
